excel Excel (.xlsx and .xls) Integration with Edilitics

Microsoft Excel is a versatile spreadsheet application widely used for organizing, analyzing, and visualizing data. Its robust functionalities, including formula-based calculations and customizable charts, make it an essential tool for tasks such as financial modeling, budgeting, and data analysis.

Within Edilitics, Excel files (supported formats: .xlsx and .xls) can be used as data sources, enabling seamless data ingestion for advanced analytics. This guide provides a detailed step-by-step approach to integrating Excel files into Edilitics, ensuring secure file management and workflow optimization.

Before You Begin

Ensure the following prerequisites are met:

  • File Size Limit: Excel files must not exceed 100 MB.

  • Column Headers: Clearly define headers for accurate data interpretation.

  • Delimiter Selection: Ensure consistency in delimiters used within the file, if applicable.

  • Usage Constraints:

    • Excel files are only supported as data sources, not destinations.

    • Workflows using Excel files:

      • Allow full loads with "Schedule as Once" in Replicate.

      • Support "Schedule as Once" in Transform.

      • Do not support auto updates or data refreshes in Visualize.

  • AI Column Insights: Excel files are not eligible for AI Column Insights.

File Security and Management

Edilitics implements robust security protocols for handling Excel files:

  • Security Scans: All uploaded files undergo validation for potential risks and data accuracy.

  • Encryption: Files are securely encrypted during storage and decrypted only when accessed or utilized in workflows (Replicate, Transform, Visualize).

  • Permanent Deletion: Upon deleting an integration, files are permanently removed from Edilitics systems to ensure data privacy compliance.
