Voice
Use voice input to dictate questions and voice output to hear AskEdi responses read aloud, in English, Hindi, Marathi, and Tamil.
AskEdi supports voice input for dictating questions and voice output for having responses read aloud. Both features work within the conversation and support English, Hindi, Marathi, and Tamil.
Voice input and voice output are only available to the chat owner. Shared viewers cannot use either feature.
Voice Input
Click the microphone icon in the question input area to begin recording. While recording, the icon turns red and pulses. As you speak, transcribed text appears in the input field in real time — you can see each phrase land as AskEdi processes the audio.
Recording stops automatically after a pause in speech. You can also stop it manually by clicking the red icon again.
Transcription populates the input field but does not submit your question. Review and edit the text, then press Enter or click Submit when ready.
Click the microphone icon
The microphone icon sits alongside the submit button in the input area. Click it to start recording. The icon turns red and begins pulsing to indicate recording is active.
Speak your question
Speak clearly. Transcribed text appears in the input field as you speak. Recording stops automatically after a pause, or click the red icon to stop manually.
Review and edit
Read the transcription in the input field. Correct any errors by typing directly. The field is fully editable while recording is in progress and after it stops.
Submit
Press Enter or click Submit. The question is sent to AskEdi and one analysis credit is consumed, the same as a typed question.
The input field has an 800 character limit. If your transcription reaches this limit, recording stops automatically and an error is shown. Shorten your question or type the remainder manually.
Voice Output
Each response has a speak button in the action icons row. Click it to have the response read aloud in the chat language. The button shows a loading indicator while audio is being prepared, then switches to a stop icon during playback.
Only one response plays at a time. Starting playback on a new response stops any currently playing audio. Click the button again at any time to stop.
Supported Languages
Voice input and output support all four AskEdi languages: English, Hindi, Marathi, and Tamil. The language used for transcription and speech matches the language selected when the chat was created.
